Introduction to Lead Came |

Lead Came is the centuries-old stained glass technique used in many churches and residences. Participants will build their own leaded glass window with instruction from Jack Young. Jack will share his skills garnered from almost thirty years of stained glass experience, and show students how to select glass, cut, build, solder and more. Class will meet one evening each week for five consecutive weeks. In addition to tuition, students can expect to spend between $200 - $300 for tools and materials during the course. Emphasis is placed on learning techniques and skills. No experience required. Pre-registration required.

Project Night |

Want to work on a project but have no room to work? Need access to a kiln or grinder? Would you like to have a glass artist present to give you advice and answer questions? All these things are provided for this evening where you work on whatever project you want. Cost of the class includes Studio, Grinder, 1 Kiln firing, and the guidance of a Glass artist. Tools and glass are available for purchase or limited rental during the evening. There is a minimum of four people required for this class, so please sign up early!

Introduction to Glass Fusing Workshop |

Glass fusing is a fast growing segment in the art glass world. New products, tools and innovative processes have made fused glass a popular and more affordable pursuit for hobbyist. In this introductory workshop, participants will create three fused glass projects using several techniques, with a variety of glass types. We will discuss many methods of combining and firing glass to acheive different results. Students will gain an understanding of the fusing process, tools and materials, glass compatibility and kiln operation. Emphasis is placed on learning techniques and skills. Fused Glass Jewelry Crafting |

Join us for a wonderful way to explore your creative side, and be able to wear the results! Robin Oakes, a long time local glass artist will teach you from the ground up how to create fused jewelry using molds, frits, and other exciting methods. All materials are provided for this class and no experience is necessary. By the end of the two days of instruction you will have up to 20 pieces of beautiful glass jewelry to keep for yourself, or share with your family and friends.

Fusing with Powders and Frits |

A great starting point for anyone who has ever wanted to add that extra bit of color and intricate design into their fused glass project, you can explore your creative side with Powders and Frits! Long time local glass artist Robin Oakes will guide you through the creation of your glass tiles decorated with fusible glass powders and frit (small glass chunks). This fun evening class will provide all the materials for three beautiful fused glass tiles that you will create. No experience necessary. Sign up early, there is a ten person limit for this class!

Spirit 96 Platter Workshop |

Build a 12 inch circle, square, or rectangular platter using an exciting "frit grouting" method. This piece will have the look of a fancy mosaic, except it is made entirely of fused glass, featuring the brilliant Spirit glass from Spectrum. Your teacher will be Robin Oakes, and no experience is necessary. All materials will be provided for you to complete one Spirit 96 platter!

Mosaic Anything With Glass |

This class is jam packed with information about understanding and using glass as a mosaic medium. In creating your own 12X12 work of art you'll learn about composing for glass; the many different types of glass; how to cut, shape and fit tesserae (pieces) together; how to prepare your substrate; when to use what adhesive; basic lay patterns; interior VS exterior applications; and how to grout your glass mosaics. Intro to Textured Glass Mosaics (Glass on Glass) |

Join us in learning a durable glass on glass mosaic technique that you can use to cover virtually any glass surface with gorgeous colors and textures: window panes, glass cabinet doors, mirrors, and candle shelters just to name a few. In class you will create a 6X12 sample of mostly clear, textures glasses with stained glass and/or glass gem accents on clear or mirrored glass, and you'll take hopme grout and grouting instructions. Tools, handouts, and materials for your first project are provided.

Classes at Seattle Stained Glass are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, and registration may be made in person or by telephone at 206.632.1319. Registration must be made in advance for all classes and workshops, and paid in full at the time of application unless noted. Tools and materials are not provided, unless otherwise noted in the class description. If a class or workshop is cancelled due to insufficient registration, a full refund will be issued by Seattle Stained Glass. Whenever possible, cancellations will be made at least one week prior to the beginning of a class. A refund, in the form of class/store credit, will be made if you cancel your enrollment 14 days before the start of the class. No cancellations will be accepted with less than 14 days notice. All classes and workshop are held at 100 NE 45th Street, Seattle, WA 98105.
